Want Fall vegetables? Time to plant them now.  Seeds of broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage should be started by Aug. 1 to be ready to harvest in October/November. Brussel Sprouts, chard, kale, lettuce can be planted now.  We like to start them in packs with good potting soil so they are easy to water.  Direct seed carrots & beets in the garden. Walla Walla onions can be planted from seed anytime between now & the end of September.

Commonwealth Garden Shoppe has lots of starts ready for you and will have them coming until sometime in September.  Check with us if you have special requests or want us to hold plants for you.
Fertilizing.  Very important to give your new plantings a dose of fertilizer.  It has been our experience to be sure and add compost to the brassica plantings along with an organic high nitrogen like Nutra Rich, fish meal or blood meal.
